Save a LIFE Today!

NOTE: The "Save A Life Today" is not it's own product, but it is rather coupled with other marketing projects supported by DREAMarketing® and MDReferrals, such as the Cooking With Style and the Oral Health for Diabetics marketing programs.

Have you noticed that when older people gather, their talk is about arthritis, Alzheimer’s, cholesterol, how so-and-so with the stroke is doing, the sad fact of an acquaintances heart attack, what medicines they are taking, the results of a recent colonoscopy, and on and on. They talk this way because they are worried!

They are increasingly worried about the risk factors that cause heart attacks, strokes, memory loss, diabetes, and cancer, to name a few.

While they may have worried lots about cosmetics in years past, aging baby boomers are becoming laser focused on controlling all risk factors that could bring death or disability. And it isn’t just the older folks either. Younger people are making great efforts to avoid these problems also.

With the emerging science showing that chronic low-grade infections in the mouth (gum disease) elevate pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL6, TNFa, and CRP, dentistry finds itself front and center on the “inflammation stage.” Like it or not, this is a medical issue not likely to go away soon.

The media, and the pharmaceutical and oral health corporations with something to sell, are ‘educating’ the public about the dangers of this inflammation – of “germs in the mouth” and their connection to heart disease. Our own professional organizations are also jumping on the band wagon.

The net effect of this effort is a more informed pubic and an increasing preoccupation with reducing sources of inflammation risk factors. Because of the oral-systemic connection many proactive dentists are building referral relationships with physicians, and working hard with their own patients in an effort to treat this problem and save lives!

Despite the wide spread availability of this emerging knowledge, many people have yet to make the connection between the health of the mouth and systemic disease. Even many physicians are just learning about the challenges which C-reactive protein has on endothelial health and its relationship to heart attacks, and the fact that oral infections can be a significant source of this inflammation.

The “Save A Life Today” project is an information based effort to educate patients on the devastating consequences of ignored inflammation in the body. It is coupled with other marketing projects supported by DREAMarketing® and MDReferrals, such as the Cooking With Style and the Oral Health for Diabetics marketing programs.

The “Save A Life Today” project is a campaign to enlist our patients to help us in an effort to “spread the word” – to tell their neighbors and friends about these health threats that are often underappreciated and under treated – and which kill people every day around us.

The “Save A Life Today” brochure and web site (DrName.HelpSaveALifeToday.info) contains valuable information which will benefit a patient, educate and inform them, and motivate them to pursue better health care and home care practices.

Dentists who recognize the importance of working with their own patients to conquer and cure periodontal disease, will also recognize that these same patients can be “missionaries” or “ambassadors” who can effectively be “commissioned” in a crusade to help get the life-saving word out to their friends, neighbors and co-workers.

The “mission” to save lives can well motivate caring people to help you tell other people about the ill effects of periodontal disease, diabetes, and other conditions made worse with inflammation. Doing so can and will save lives!

Because systemic inflammation is the new “common thread” which seems to connect many of these health conditions, dentists must step up to and help their patients to control their oral health. The next logical progression is to take this “mission” and market the message to other people. While it will undoubtedly benefit individual dentists, the net effect again is that it does save lives. That is the permission which energizes this effort to “Save A Life Today.”

“The Save A Life Today” campaign has its own web site and printed information. The web site (DrName.HelpSaveALifeToday.info) is linked to from the DrName.CookingWithStyle.net and DrName.OralHealthForDiabetics.com web sites. Printed brochures and pamphlets provided by DREAMarketing® serve to drive your patients and their contacts to this site to learn about and access more information about the oral-systemic connection.
